Sludgetrol™
Sludgetrol™ is the key to controlling the odor and
solids accumulation associated with standing water
in lagoons, ponds or waste confinement pits, and
controls the bacteria that lives in the water. If
left untreated, the oxygen in the water is used up
and anaerobic bacteria flourish. In the short run,
the odor is the source of complaints as sulfur
dioxide is released into the air. In the long run,
the pond fills in, as partially digested solids
fall to the bottom. There are many types of
anaerobic bacteria, the most widely known are
chara, nitella, filamentous algae (pond scum) and
plankton.
To eliminate the problems associated with standing
water, anaerobic bacteria must be replaced with
aerobic bacteria. Aerobic bacteria produce
odor-less carbon dioxide and free flowing liquid
waste. Bacterial control requires an effective
water management program.
To be effective, a water management program must
do three things:
1. Inhibit the growth of anaerobic bacteria
2. Provide
oxygen for aerobic bacteria
3. Maintain a balanced pH |

Sludgetrol
Ô
is a key component
in a water management program.
Sludgetrol
Ô directly controls
the anaerobic bacteria by blocking the actions of
enzymes that they need to survive. With anaerobic
bacteria under control, aerobic bacteria can
thrive. |

Directions for Use |
|
For algae/bacteria control, apply in late spring or early summer
when algae/bacteria first appear. The dosages are variable, and depend upon algae/bacteria
species, water hardness, water temperature, amount of algae/bacteria present, as well as
whether water is clear, turbid, flowing or static. Preferably, the water should be clear
with temperatures above 60° F (15.6 ° C). Higher dosages are required at lower water
temperatures, higher algae/bacteria concentrations, and for hard waters. Application
should be done by pouring Sludgetrol
Ô directly from the container into the
lakes, ponds, reservoirs, or irrigation canals. Several application points speed up
dispersal. Static water requires less chemical for algae/bacteria control than does
flowing water. Use higher dosages for chara, nitella, and filamentous algae (pond scum),
and lower dosages for planktonic algae. If there is uncertainty about the dosage, begin
with a lower dose and increase until control is achieved, or until the maximum allowable
level has been reached. |
